Beating the Heat

Description

The day have been hotter then normal and even in the shade of the tree in the pasture there was very little relief for the dark faced, pale colored body stallion. He stood under the tree nibbling the clover around the tree. Something caught his eye and he lifted his head and looked in the direction of the adjoining pasture. The human foals were in the other pasture pulling what looked to him a very odd looking snake with the stangest head he'd ever seen.

The children soon went about setting down the snake which just happened to be a hose with a sprinkler attached to the end. There were a few shouts between the kids and suddenly the sprinkler sprang to life making waves of water. The children started to giggle and run around through the cooling spray. The stallion watched his ears perked forward to the children and they fun. After an hour or so one of the adult humans called to the kids who hurried along to lunch, forgetting the hose was still on.

Curiously the stallion approached the fence and stopped close enough to inspect the supposed snake the kids were having so much fun playing around. Suddenly the hose turned back in the stallions direction spraying him and causing him to jump back in surprise. He shook his wet mane and instantly the cooling water refreshed him. Soon the stallion was playing in the rain the odd snake was making much like the children had, cooling off from the summer heat of the day.
